Life After Training

Jobs & CV Writing

Passing your test is just the start. Here's how to put together a strong driving CV and find your first HGV role.

Writing A Strong Driving CV

Employers want to see your qualifications and experience at a glance. A clear, well-structured CV makes a huge difference when applying for HGV roles.

  • Lead with your licence categories and any CPC/ADR certifications
  • List DVLA points and driving history honestly and clearly
  • Highlight vehicle types you're experienced with (rigid, artic, tanker, etc.)
  • Include any specialist experience — tail lifts, ADR, multi-drop, tramping
  • Keep it to one or two pages, with clear, recent contact details
